Laminated peelable shims

Althermill Metal Shims

This laminated shim is made of a stack of individual sheets joined together by gluing, over their entire surface, forming a laminated assembly of compact appearance. Elementary sheets are peeled one by one to obtain the desired final thickness. This method significantly reduces assembly time and eliminates the storage, machining and grinding of solid shims. They are available in steel, aluminum, brass, stainless steel and titanium, to yours dimensions and specifications.

Alkomposit Viewtek Composite Shims

These are peelable shims in composite material. They consist of a stack of polyester (Mylar) sheets glued together over their entire surface. Unlike metal laminated shims, they can be very easily and safely peeled by hand without any tools. A unique marking system also allow visual identification of the side to peel. The material meets applications requiring insulation qualities or chemical resistance and lightness, from -70 ° C to + 220 ° C.

Alkomposit K composite Shims

Alkomposit K peelable composite shims consist of a stack of individual polyimide (Kapton) sheets. They provide extremely advantageous physical, chemical and electrical properties for all applications with electrical insulation constraints , chemical and high temperature resistance (up to over 400 ° C) and lightness and low density (50% of that of aluminum).

Separable Shimpack Shims

Separable shims are a major adaptation for the Public Works' specific market. They are constituted by a set of shims of different thicknesses glued together with glue points on the edge rather than on the whole surface. After a simple manipulation, the fitter breaks the glue points and can retrieve the desired thickness by removing the leaves manually, without tools. Unlike peelable shims, separable shims are mainly used for assemblies requiring only average precision in challenging outdoor environments and for which this process can be very cost-effective.

Solid Shims

Solid shims, whether ground or not, are used in every situations where significant stresses (vibration, tension, shearing, extreme temperatures). Mostly found in some aeronautical mechanical assemblies such as equipment supports attached to engines for civil and military aircrafts. They are extremely precise, strictly tailor-made and for immediate use on site. Solid shims are available in a very large range of thicknesses, materials and hardness.

Extra-thin Shims

These are solid shims to compensate spaces below 1/100 th of a millimeter. Executed from drawings in steel, aluminum, stainless steel or polymer, they are available in thicknesses from 0.025 0.05 0.10 0.20 mm and even from 0.01 mm for stainless steel. Whatever their shape, these parts are machined, which guarantees a shim of high precision, without any burrs.

Standard U-Shape Shims

Peelable Lamipack Shims

These are european standardized U-shape peelable laminated shims. They are often used for shaft alignment of transmission between an engine and a receiver. They are available in steel, stainless steel, brass and also a composite material. The Lamipack laminated shim consists of elementary leaves of different thicknesses on each side, joined together by adhesive bonding over their entire surface. With a total thickness of 1 mm, it is composed of 8 sheets of 0.1 mm and 4 sheets of 0.05 mm. Each elementary sheet can be peeled-off very easily, until the exact final thickness is obtained.

Separable Peelpack Shims

These are european standardized U-shape laminated shims. Very often used for power shaft alignment between an engine and a receiver, they are available in steel, stainless steel, brass and also a composite material. The separable Peelpack shim is a set of elemantary shims joined by adhesive spots applied on the edge only. It has the advantage of beeing very easily peeled by hand, without tools, in order to get the dright dimension. Each removed sheet, can be reused to serve as a single shim. With a total thickness of 1 mm, it is composed of 8 sheets of 0.1 mm and 4 sheets of 0.05 mm.

Singlepack Shims

>These are solid european standardized U-shape shims. They are often used for shaft alignment of transmission between an engine and a receiver. They are available in steel, stainless steel, brass and also a composite material. The compact Singlepack are solid shims, with standard dimensions, U-shaped, and available in many thicknesses from 0.025 to 0.05 - 0.1 - 0.2 - 0.3 - 0.4 to 0.5 - 0,7 - 1 - 2 - 3 and 4 mm. All intermediate thicknesses are obtainable by stacking.
